Albania - A Day Trip to Prizren (Kosovo)
Want to add a true gem to your trip to Albania? Don't miss a side trip to Prizren, Kosovo!
If you’re traveling through Northern Albania, we highly recommend crossing the border for a one-day (or even two-day) visit to one of the most beautiful and picturesque cities in the Balkans.
What awaits you there?
🏰 A Magical Old Town: Ottoman-style cobblestone alleyways, picturesque bridges, and an ancient fortress offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city, river, and surrounding mountains.
☕ Vibrant Culture & Nightlife: Around central Shadervan Square, you’ll find fantastic, lively restaurants, bars, and cafés - at prices even lower than in Albania!
🥙 Rich Culinary Scene: The food in Prizren is heavily influenced by Turkish cuisine - incredible kebabs, skewers, fresh salads, and pastries that add a delicious variety to your Albanian journey.
💡 How to get there & travel time?
Since the vast majority of Kosovo's population is Albanian, the border crossing is simple, fast, and friendly. The drive from Shkodra or the Valbona Valley takes only between 2 to 3 hours.
Tip: If you're driving a rental car from Albania, make sure in advance that your rental company approves crossing into Kosovo (you will pay a local insurance fee of about €15 at the border).
