Japan - Beit Shalom

Visiting Beit Shalom in Japan, and staying for one night or more, is an extraordinary experience. Beit Shalom belongs to a Christian community of Israel lovers in Japan. There are Beit Shalom locations in four cities: Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, and Hiroshima. We stayed for 2 nights at the one in Kyoto. The hosts are Japanese Hebrew speakers, friendly and kind. They allocated 2 rooms for our family on the upper floor of a building in their compound where we were the only guests, with toilets and showers on the lower floor. The stay includes a large and tasty Israeli breakfast, all for free, although it is highly recommended to bring a nice "Israeli" gift from your country (Israeli food, chocolates, CDs with Israeli music, books, etc.). From time to time, when organized groups from Israel visit the city, a ceremony is held in the auditorium on the premises, in which they tell about themselves, and a large choir sings Israeli songs in Hebrew – delightful! It is worth checking if such a ceremony will take place during your stay, and if so – don't miss it! They do not advertise themselves, and reservations can only be made via email. You can stay with them for up to 3 nights, and they only accept families and married couples. It is recommended to book well in advance. A wonderful and moving experience, truly exceptional, highly recommended.
