NYC - Consider Staying Across the River
In recent years, the cost of accommodation in New York City—especially in its most sought-after area, Manhattan—has skyrocketed. Even the price of an ordinary meal (let alone fancy restaurants) can put a noticeable dent in your budget. While New York offers plenty of free attractions, staying in the city has become increasingly expensive.
To save a bit of cash on your next trip to the Big Apple, we suggest an alternative: consider renting an apartment just across the Hudson River in Hoboken. Hoboken boasts excellent public transportation, with easy access to Manhattan in just 20–30 minutes. The town offers a great selection of cafés, restaurants, and supermarkets. It is close to Jersey City yet feels calmer and safer, and has a large Jewish and Israeli community, as well as all the charm of a small but vibrant town.
Make no mistake, accommodation in Hoboken is not cheap either. However, for the same price you would pay in Manhattan, you are likely to get a larger space, often with a kitchen where you can cook breakfast or other meals. This can be especially convenient when traveling with kids who are not quite used to typical American breakfast fare. We hope you find the perfect place to stay and enjoy New York without breaking the bank.
