If you feel that Europe and the US have felt a bit less welcoming to Israelis lately and are looking for your next trip - you are not alone. Many of us have already explored Thailand, and even Vietnam has become standard. But there is one incredible country in Asia that somehow remains under the radar: Taiwan - a fascinating, completely safe, and Israeli-friendly destination.

Why Taiwan? Because it offers the perfect mix of China’s rich culture, temples, and amazing food, combined with Japan’s politeness, cleanliness, safety, and efficiency. The result is a paradise for independent travel, featuring excellent, convenient infrastructure, even for self-driving trips.

Best seasons to visit: Autumn (October–December) or Spring (March–May) - perfect weather, avoiding both the summer heat and tropical rains.

The beauty of Taiwan is that you don't need months to get the most out of it; two weeks will give you a fantastic vacation:

  • 7–10 days in and around Taipei: The vibrant and super-modern capital, packed with night markets and coffee culture, serves as a perfect base for exploring the city, as well as easy day trips to breathtaking natural sites and picturesque towns.

  • 5–7 days around the island: Head out to wild nature, canyons, mountains, and lakes, either with an easy self-drive route or on excellent local organized tours with Edison Tours.

How to get there? While there are no direct flights from Israel, you can purchase a single itinerary ticket with El Al: flying with them to Milan (or another major European hub) and connecting smoothly with EVA Air, Taiwan’s excellent national carrier, widely considered one of the best airlines in the world.
